Event: Morgan County Youth Hunt
Join Pheasants Forever, National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, Friends of the NRA, and the Colorado Division of Wildlife for an exciting, educational day of upland bird hunting on March 10th, 2012. We will be selecting 16-18 youth, 18 years old or younger, to participate in this event. Please print out applications at www.morgancounty.pheasantsforever.org , and join us for a great day of fun!
• Our goal is to introduce young people to the outdoors, and upland game bird hunting in particular, in a safe controlled environment. Experienced mentors will be with the youth hunters throughout the day.
• The youth hunters will sharpen their shooting skills on the trap range under the eye of experienced shotgun instructors, learn about wildlife habitat and how they can help, walk through a trail with various hunt training scenarios, and end up with the bird hunt. Two hunters will work with one dog handler to hunt pheasant or chukar over pointing dogs. Birds taken will be cleaned and bagged for transport home. Recipes on how to cook them will sent home with the successful hunters, so they may enjoy the fruits of the field at home.
